WHO WE ARE
One step away from completing his engineering studies, Giuseppe Fortunato chooses the life of a farmer, causing many family quarrels but also a renewed and happy relationship with his father. This choice becomes concrete when he meets his wife Sandra, already a beekeeper since longtime.
From the passion for nature and the desire to enhance the territory, “Contrada Salandra” was born in 2005, expanding the company that until then had been dedicated to beekeeping and honey production.
The farm is located in the heart of the Campi Flegrei, on the Cuma Coasts in Trepiccioni Street, an area that on the old cadastral maps is indicated as “Vicinale Contrada Salandra”.
From here you can admire the Roman beach and imagine the Acropolis of Cuma, about 200 meters above sea level.
For Contrada Salandra, the presence of bees in the vineyard has always been an important element for the vines. The main characteristic of the winery is the meticolous care is taken in the cultivation of the grapes first and in winemaking later, that enables to produce wines that fully express the territory from which they originate. This approach gave its results over time, “Contrada Salandra” has obtained numerous certificates of esteem in recent years.
Production focuses on indigenous pre phylloxeric (original free-range ) grape varieties: Falanghina and Piedirosso dei Campi Flegrei.

Passion and respect are the core values of Contrada Salandra. Passion for the grapes, the vines, for winemaking that follows natural procedures and rhythms. Respect for nature, for the territory, for a ‘business ethic that encourageS the cultivation and careS of native vines, for integrated agriculture. All in the precise belief that nature “takes place” with rhythms that don’t know forcing, where the hand of man “accompanies” and never “replaces.”
Our product is the result of these founding values, it is a sign of our hard work but, above all, in it we can read how much nature gives back to those who act in accordance with its laws.
